I work in therapy and make music purely for my own consumption. My songs are all recorded at home in the spare bedroom, with me writing, playing, singing or programming everything therein.
“Ideal Girl Identikit” is a song for a close friend of mine who was truly tormented by bad dreams of dragons; whose mother had substituted chocolate for care in her childhood; and who flies gliders as a hobby. I tried to incorporate important aspects of her into the music. For instance, the organ fade-in is a nod towards George Michael’s “Faith,” since she has strong faith and the song has lots of resonance for her. Also, the key changes down and then back up in the outro are meant to represent air turbulence. The lyrics are relatively straightforward, although in the interest of full disclosure I should confess that “Kissing Glue” is an expression I first heard in an XTC song.
Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy.
