Editorial Introduction
by Patrick Malone
The last issue was our first year anniversary issue and
when we discovered that we'd been laboring at this diamond mine for a full
year, we decided we wanted to do something special. Someone (God knows who
and anyway it's too late) made a baby from some salistickywadilime and named
it outgrow ... no wait ... scratch that. Someone suggested an all-moderator
edition. Well, that sounded cool enough for me, so I rounded up the moderators,
put on my best Mickey Rooney and said "Hey, kids ... let's put on a show!"
That was three months ago and now here we are with our
first "all-moderator" issue. We might make this a regular yearly thing, who
knows. A big thanks goes out to all those who participated and for those
who didn't have the time or had other disasters fall on them, hopefully we'll
see their work in a future issue down the road. Special thanks also goes
out to Gaudere who created the graphics for this issue and put up with me
pestering her about them right up until the end.
With this issue we've reinstated a few things that we started
out with in the beginning. Arnold Winkleried is back and promises that his
"Prisoners of Conscience" column will be back as a regular feature. We're
also going to retry the feedback form for readers to send in their thoughts
about the articles. I mean, how bad can it be? (Although after reading
CKDexterHaven's and JillGat's pieces in this issue, I might soon be rescinding
that question.)
The February issue It's a Complex World will be
out on February 1, 2002 and submissions should be in by December 31 of this
year. It's been real exciting seeing what's out there. So, enjoy ... and
Happy Holidays, everyone! See you in February.
